McAvoy gets 9.5M. Pulock at 6.15M makes sense but the term could be rough the last 3 years. Nonono for John Tonelli.

It’s a ridiculously good contract. Thinking otherwise would just mean you don’t really watch Ryan pulock.

McAvoy better and 5 years younger. Better hope Pulock is good in his mid thirties

I only saw Pulock during the playoffs and he was outstanding. The money is right but between ages 34-36 it could get ugly. Nine years is a long time.

Don’t take this the wrong way you seem like a nice dude but I love when people say stuff like this. What good player is taking a contract till the age of 32 or 33 right when the entire world knows they start degrading? Why in gods name would they do that when another team will 100% give them what they’re looking for? Of course ANY decent player is looking for security and will get it. We got a lower aav for a longer contract. That’s how it works.

See above answer. I love this perfect world you two guys live in where players accept contracts right up to the age where their level of play starts diminishing. In a perfect world all players in the late twenties should be signed till 31 or 32?

McAvoy better? In what way exactly? As an Islander fan I loved McAvoy in last years playoffs. I’ll look forward to him coming home to play us ❤️

It is interesting to see the different perspectives on the current deals. Personally I am on the optimistic side of things. If you can lock a good player up for what will be 85 to 90 percentage of their careers it is worth the risk. People are looking at the back end of the deals as being terrible but the 3 mil over 6 you save (18 mil) to me out weighs the 18 mil you are paying over last 3.

The savings allows you to strengthen your team. That 3 mil over six could be 1 or 2 players that can add depth or ELC...If Pulock is healthy, he successful and the team is than it is worth. If not you can analyze it all day long.

I think Lou has done a solid job keeping core together. Needs to focus picking up a defenseman for the 4,5,6 slot. Salo maybe the guy. To me Greene will not last the entire season a reg. in rotation. Still think we are top 6 forward away as well.

As a Rangers fan I'm glad when a player like Fox wins the Norris but hate it for contract. If you can lock up your collective D for below Norris value but collectively play Norris caliber and have better team defense you should be happy.

Fair enough. That dynamic you present is certainly true. Can we agree that at age 34 and beyond that Pulock will be paid for past performance not current worth?

Probably, but you never know. If salaries and caps go up substantially over the intervening years, then maybe he will still be worth his salary.
